RTLS Alliance Certification Program

Anyone working with or interested in RTLS technologies is eligible for certification. This includes engineers, technicians, IT professionals, project managers, consultants, and students. There are no strict prerequisites, though basic technical knowledge is recommended for the Professional level, and prior experience with RTLS implementations is beneficial for the Expert level certification.

The certification timeline varies by level. The Certified RTLS Professional program requires approximately 4 hours of online coursework plus exam time. The Certified RTLS Expert program involves 16 hours of coursework spread over multiple modules, plus exam preparation and testing. Most candidates complete the Professional certification within 1-2 weeks and the Expert certification within 4-8 weeks, depending on their schedule and prior experience.

The Professional certification covers RTLS fundamentals, technology comparisons, basic implementation principles, and industry applications. The Expert certification delves deeper into system architecture, advanced deployment strategies, integration methodologies, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and specialized industry solutions. Both certifications include theoretical knowledge and practical application scenarios.

Certification exams are administered online through our secure testing platform. The exams combine multiple-choice questions, scenario-based problems, and practical exercises. Candidates can take the exams from any location with a reliable internet connection. The Professional exam takes approximately 90 minutes, while the Expert exam is divided into modules totaling about 3 hours. Proctoring is required for both certification levels.

RTLS Alliance certifications are valid for three years from the date of issuance. To maintain certification status, certified individuals must complete continuing education requirements or recertify through an abbreviated renewal exam. There are no formal prerequisites for the Professional certification beyond basic technical literacy. For the Expert certification, we recommend either holding the Professional certification first or having at least two years of hands-on experience with RTLS technologies. This ensures candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary to succeed with the more advanced material.
